CoPSC Manager – Initial thoughts and updates

So seven weeks has flown by since I started my new role at the club. It’s been (as expected) very different to my past career, but I love that I am giving something back to the club I love and hopefully making a difference.  I’m also meeting so many new faces (even after 25 years) and everyone has been very welcoming and supportive.

I will keep you updated on operational progress through the Club Newsletter, but in the meantime, I want to update you on the bar/lounge accountability.

As you will know Neil Hoskin kindly stepped into the Operational and Bar Managers role and I’d like to say a massive thank you to him.  This was only going to be an interim role for Neil whilst he was quieter with his Fencing / Landscaping  work through the winter months.  He will now be returning to his Fence Connection duties full time.  His tireless work has given me the chance to work myself into the Operational role and now it’s the right time for me to take over the bar responsibilities. This happened on the 1st May.

I am planning on undertaking two immediate tasks:-

  1. Appoint a Head Bar Person over the coming weeks, who will take on the day-to-day management of the bar. I’m looking for a very experienced bar person who is able to manage/support our great bar staff and help me make changes over the coming weeks and months.  The Job Description is available on request for any internal applicants, but in the meantime so we don’t waste any time, I’m delighted that Phil Martin has agreed to take on the role on an interim basis, for which he will start on the 6th May. He comes with a great deal of experience and knowledge so I am hoping he will make an impact straightaway.
  1. Lead a working party to help build a strategy to improve our bar and make it the default place to come to meet friends and family not just to play sport and have a social drink afterwards.
